What an incredible night! 🌟

On Saturday 6th June, @JThomsonColourPrinters hosted a charity Race Night and we are absolutely thrilled to announce that the evening was a huge success, raising a phenomenal £11,000 for the @BeatsonCancerCharity! 🎗️

The money was raised in memory of our dear colleague, Gary Stuart, who we sadly lost to stomach cancer in October 2025. Gary was a long-standing member of our team, and the support the Beatson provided his family during that time was truly invaluable.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event, whether you donated a prize, bought a ticket and joined us on the night, purchased raffle tickets, placed bets, played stand-up bingo, took part in toss the coin, or bid generously in our auction – your incredible involvement made this total possible.

Team visit to St. Andrew’s Hospice

Yesterday three of our J Thomson Colour Printers team, Kevin Creechan Marie Gilmour and Susan Hart had the opportunity to visit St. Andrew’s Hospice to see how the money raised through the It’s A Knockout event was being used and it was a truly humbling experience.

Being able to personally see the care and unbelievable experiences that the amazing staff and volunteers give to their residents was frankly tear jerking, but in the most uplifting way.
What we learned is that it’s not just what they do for the people in their care but also what they contribute to their families, their outpatients & the communities of both North & South Lanarkshire.
They go above and beyond, and it made us so proud to be part of it and contribute in our own small way.
St. Andrew’s Hospice relies on contributions to be able to continue the outstanding work they do, so instead of giving ourselves a pat on the back for taking one Saturday out of our busy lives to raise a drop in the ocean towards what they need to continue to operate, we would like to ask all of you to keep them in your thoughts. If you are looking for a charity to support, this is an extremely worthy one.

Scott Macnair 25 years service

As a business, we are extremely proud of our superb employee long service record. We have an exceptionally low turnover of staff, and it is an incredible achievement that we have managed to retain such a wealth of experience and skills within the organisation for so many years.

At present we have 12 employees with 25 years of service or more, which is an extremely rare occurrence these days. Instead of a lifetime achievement award, which some of them probably think they deserve, we thought we would shine the spotlight on these long serving individuals throughout 2024 to commemorate their accomplishments.

First up, is @scott_macnair who is celebrating an impressive 25 years of service. Scott started as a mac operator in December 1998. Over the years he steadily climbed the ranks, achieving the position of Pre-Press supervisor in 2010. He was one of the first employees to participate in the management training programme where he demonstrated his commitment and leadership skills. It was this determination that ultimately led to him becoming the Pre-Press manager in 2019. He is crucial member of the production team, and we are grateful for the dedication he has shown over the years.

Happy Silver Anniversary Scott, here’s to many more years to come! – 🥳👏🍾🎊

Inter-departmental 5-a-side tournament 2023

The biggest football event in Scotland this week took place in Glasgow and featured flying elbows, flared tempers, diving tackles, loud booing from a section of the support and a dodgy referee. No, it wasn’t the Scotland v England friendly international – it was the @jthomsoncolourprinters inter-departmental 5-a-side tournament, kindly sponsored by Elliot Baxter.

After 2 hours of combat, on a stiflingly hot afternoon the oldest team in the tournament, by some distance, emerged victorious. Congratulations to the winners, Bryan Reid, Peter Shepard, Graham Watson, Martin Coyle and Kevin Creechan – the Customer Service Team – who showed the younger teams a thing or two about football, no doubt helped by the fact that they wore green and white strips according to @kevincreechan

A big thanks to everyone who turned up on the day, whether watching or playing, to Elliot Baxter for their support and to Brodies Bar for hosting the very liquid after party. 🏆⚽🍺

SOCIAL SOUND BITES : Bryan Reid

In the summer of 2022 England’s women’s football team won the final of the Euros, a tournament that caught the imagination of the country and gave the sport the platform it’s been craving for years. It was seen as a defining moment for the women’s game and has been followed by increased funding and media exposure.

In Scotland, it’s not moving quite as quickly, but it’s getting there.   We caught up with our Operations Manager, Bryan Reid, to discuss his involvement in the game when he’s away from work.  As an Academy coach for Kilmarnock FC Women, Bryan volunteers two nights each week and every Sunday to coach the Under 8 / Under 10 age group.

“I got involved the same way as most coaches in youth football, through my daughter Sophia.  She joined Kilmarnock FC Women at a time when they were short of coaches.  I had previously coached my sons and already had some qualifications so I offered to help and within a few weeks I was all in! It’s now an exciting time to be involved with the club.  They are investing in the women’s side, have employed Jim Chapman, an experienced manager with a wealth of knowledge to not only lead the senior first team but to head and restructure the girls Youth Academy.  They are already making great progress towards becoming a more professional set up and that can only be a good thing for the club, the community and of course the girls.

It’s also, surprisingly, a great way to unwind.  Most people would expect it to be a stressful environment, dealing with a group of kids aged from 6-10 but it’s the opposite.  Regardless of how my day has been at work, I give myself a reminder before every session that I’m the person responsible for making each girls time constructive and fun.  For most, these 90 minute sessions can be the highlight of their week so I can’t let them down by being in the wrong frame of mind.

It’s a privilege being involved by giving up a little bit of my spare time to play a part in the growth of the kids, both in football and hopefully in life – it’s so rewarding”.
