Carbon Balanced Printer

By Latest News

What better time than World Environment Day to announce that J Thomson Colour Printers is now the largest Certified Carbon Balanced commercial printer in Scotland.

J Thomson is supporting the global conservation charity World Land Trust in their crucial efforts to protect and preserve threatened, carbon-rich habitat around the world.

When we began our journey towards ISO 14001 certification in 2005, we had only one goal in mind, and that was to make J Thomson Colour Printers as environmentally sustainable as we possibly could.

Our World Land Trust Carbon Balanced Certification is just one part of our strategy to reduce our environmental impact. We strive to continue to invest and innovate to ensure we offer our customers the most sustainable solutions possible.

What does this mean for our clients? When you choose J Thomson Colour Printers, you’re not only guaranteed high quality printing services, you are also supporting a company dedicated to environmental responsibility. Together we can make a difference and we look forward to sharing more of our journey with you.

We are externally audited on each of these standards annually and since 2019 have been audited 20 times. During that period, we have recorded ZERO (0) non-conformances….

Scott Macnair 25 years service

By Latest News

As a business, we are extremely proud of our superb employee long service record. We have an exceptionally low turnover of staff, and it is an incredible achievement that we have managed to retain such a wealth of experience and skills within the organisation for so many years.

At present we have 12 employees with 25 years of service or more, which is an extremely rare occurrence these days. Instead of a lifetime achievement award, which some of them probably think they deserve, we thought we would shine the spotlight on these long serving individuals throughout 2024 to commemorate their accomplishments.

First up, is @scott_macnair who is celebrating an impressive 25 years of service. Scott started as a mac operator in December 1998. Over the years he steadily climbed the ranks, achieving the position of Pre-Press supervisor in 2010. He was one of the first employees to participate in the management training programme where he demonstrated his commitment and leadership skills. It was this determination that ultimately led to him becoming the Pre-Press manager in 2019. He is crucial member of the production team, and we are grateful for the dedication he has shown over the years.

Happy Silver Anniversary Scott, here’s to many more years to come! – 🥳👏🍾🎊

Movember 2022 – Team Tash

By Latest News

Movember, formerly known as November, is when selfless men around the globe forgo shaving to grow a moustache. We have 3 work colleagues bravely taking part this year all hoping to raise awareness and funds for male health, specifically prostate & testicular cancer as well as mental health and suicide prevention. Everyone at J Thomson is getting behind the boys and we wanted to quickly ask why it is important to them.

Scott Macnair, Brian Watson and Mark Jones (or Team Tash) all work in our Pre-Press Department.

What motivated you to take part in this years Movember?
Scott: Mental health and cancer has been a big part of life recently with close family members so I felt that was the least I could do to help raise some money for a fantastic cause.

Mark: Raising money for cancer charities always motivates me. I’m always up for a challenge, but trying to grow a half decent tash is uncharted waters for me.
Haven’t shaved my face properly in years so I can already hear the team call out… “When did the baby start working in prepress?”!!

Brian: I really like what the charity does to raise awareness of men’s health, so thought it would be great to raise money for them.

How will you handle not shaving for 4 weeks?
Scott: I don’t normally shave so 4 weeks should be a walk in the park, not looking forward to seeing my baldy face in the mirror.

Mark: I’m not too fussed, it should be fine. I think the wife will hate it though. Hope my 6 month old baby girl still recognizes me.

Brian: Will be a hard one for me as I always shave but should be fun to see what I look like after a month :).

Have you decided on a particular style?
Scott: I was thinking a cross between Magnum Pi meets Burt Reynolds a cool sexy look lol. 😂😂😂

Mark: The Hulk Hogan tash is a cool style, but as long as my tash isn’t grey I will be happy.

Brian: Anything apart from a Freddy Mercury tash and I will be happy lol.

Good luck boys we look forward to our weekly updates!
And as a thank you for taking part we will be treating the boys to a real Turkish Shave once finished.
